FIRST FAIRTRADE COTTON GROCERY BAGS IN AUSTRIA

Guided by the motto “act locally- think globally“, MPREIS FAIRTRADE is opening new ground with the new FAIRTRADE cotton shopping bag, the first of its kind in Austria! In1993, MPREIS was the first Austrian supermarket chain to introduce FAIRTRADE products. MPREIS has been taking a leading role in marketing fair trade products as a partner of the FAIRTRADE initiative.

A three-month design contest launched by MPREIS offered artists and individuals interested in the arts the opportunity to submit their designs for the topics “pleasure“, "meeting point" and "joy of life". The contest produced more than 500 designs by both amateurs and professional graphic artists. The winning design was created by Anja Übele and will be featured on the new edition of shopping bags available in July.

These high-quality cotton bags were produced by a partner of the FAIRTRADE Austria label. The project combines the sustainable principles of producing (ecologically sound) cotton bags under fair (socially responsible) conditions. 

CONVENIENT AND BEAUTIFUL
The bag’s clever design includes practical features such as a pocket for keys and wallet as well as extra long handles that permit carrying the bag on the shoulder.
