Our business was founded in the 20ies by Mrs. Therese Mölk. Even though a lot has changed over all those years one important detail about our business remains constant – MPREIS is still managed by the same family.
Apart from their regional attachment, the MPREIS management is characterised first and foremost by true passion and the joy of shaping reality through visionary thinking!
We see ourselves as a modern, regional supplier and place great value on leaving the traditional supermarket image behind, a concept that is characterised by sober functionality and emotional poverty, and replace this image with new and positive attributes.
Unlike large international businesses, which are forced to base their decisions on the interests and opinions of shareholders and financial analysts, we have much more freedom in our decisions and are more interested in sustainable development than in short term profits.
Sustainable management means to think in the long-term and work towards changes that will also benefit future generations!

Definition of sustainability according to the “Local Agenda 21 Tyrol”: the concept of sustainability is based on the insight that economic performance, social responsibility and the protection of the natural environment are inseparable. Sustainability means fulfilling the needs of present generations without creating negative effects on the opportunities of future generations. Only a successful business is able to act in a future-oriented way and to take responsibility for social and cultural issues as well as for the environment.
MPREIS developed from the small business of the 70ies into one of the most dynamic and powerful companies of the entire region. The trend-setting commitment of MPREIS was honoured in May 2005 with the certificate for “Sustainable Business Management” of the regional government of Tyrol and the economic chamber. In 2007, MPREIS received the “Sustainable Business Management” certificate a second time.
The regional, family-run business sets future-oriented standards that receive international recognition.
As a regional family business, MPREIS considers itself a marketing platform for local products and has been taking a leading role in this position for many years. Approximately 1.200 Tyrolean food products from over 150 regional suppliers are available in our supermarkets. As a regional supplier MPREIS wants to win as many Tyrolean producers as possible as competent partners.
In recent years, MPREIS contracted more than 400 Tyrolean companies from the construction industry alone. This future-oriented investment retains purchasing power within the region, secures employment, small structures and agriculture, and reduces transport distance. The implementation of networking principles strengthens the entire regional economy.

In 2005 and in 2007, MPREIS received the certificate for “Sustainable Business Management” from the regional government of Tyrol and the economic chamber. This certificate was first awarded in May 2005 to ten Tyrolean business that achieved outstanding results in the sustainability check.
During the award ceremony, the representative of the regional government, Hannes Bodner, said the following: “Today sustainability is more important than ever and crucial for every successful, innovative business. We honour businesses whose actions are economically oriented, socially balanced and who show ecological responsibility.”
The responsible coordinator for sustainability of the regional government, Gottfried Mair, added: “Those businesses that manage to reconcile economic success with social responsibility and environmental protection deserve our greatest recognition. (…) If the customers recognize this achievement as well and shop in these businesses, we are on the right track. This is an opportunity for the consumer to actively participate in shaping the future by opting for rationality, for a sustainable lifestyle and for a responsible use of resources.”
