The Starkenberg brewery is a century-old traditional Tyrolean company that is based in a historic castle. Located in Tarrenz at an elevation of 900 meters above sea level, it is one of the highest breweries in the world.

Starkenberger beer is brewed according to the Bavarian Beer Purity Law of 1516, which permits only four ingredients: malted barley, water, hops and yeast.

Starkenberger products have won more awards than any other Austrian beer. Right from the beginning, this private brewery was run by women.  Currently, the company is managed by Dr. Charlotte Amann.
